It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Edgar Arturo Avellan, a cherished husband, loving father, and grandfather. He entered this world on April 29, 1947, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and after 76 years of a life well-lived, he departed from us on August 10, 2023, surrounded by the boundless love of his devoted wife, daughters, and adoring grandchildren.
Edgar's journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family. His presence brought warmth and joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family.
He shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Gilda G Avellan. Their journey together was one of enduring love, shared dreams, and unwavering companionship.
He was a loving father to his three cherished daughters: Gilda Avellan-Guzman, Ana Maria Avellan, and Ines M Avellan. His guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love shaped their lives, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Among his proudest roles was that of a grandfather, their Wito. He leaves behind seven adoring grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to his life: Kenny & Richard Mercado, Tessa & Carlos Guzman, Nathalie & Nahdya Ventura, and Noemi Bonilla. His love and presence enriched their lives, creating lasting memories that will forever be treasured.
He was dedicated and hardworking individual, Edgar proudly served 22 years at the Gillette Company (Andover). He dedicated his time in the warehouse until his retirement in 2007. Following his retirement, he continued to make a positive impact at NRT in North Reading, where he worked diligently for 11 years.
Beyond his professional achievements, Edgar found immense joy in creating lasting memories with his beloved wife. For the past thirteen years, they embarked on their cherished tradition of a yearly six-month vacation to their beloved Guayaquil. This time together allowed them to embrace life's beauty and strengthen their bond.
He was a respected figure in the lives of many. His unwavering commitment to his family set an example of love, dedication, and true provider. His generosity knew no bounds, and his willingness to extend a helping hand, particularly to his fellow countrymen, showcased his profound compassion. Edgar’s legacy of uplifting others and offering opportunities for advancement will forever inspire us.
Born to the late Rafael Avellan and Blanca Montalvo, he grew up a loving family that instilled in him the value of resilience. He was also preceded in death by his dear brother, Juan Jose Avellan, who he now joins in eternal peace. Edgar is survived by his six siblings, each of whom he held close to his heart: Freddie Avellan, residing in Lawrence, Rafael Alberto Avellan, Ronald Avellan, Lorena Lavoy, and Dinora Bianchi, all residing in Florida.
His legacy of love extends far and wide, encompassing an extensive network of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Among them is the Guerrero family, who embraced him as one of their own. The bond they shared was built on mutual respect, and deep connection that will forever be treasured.
His presence brought joy to countless lives, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Edgar will forever be etched in our hearts. Rest in eternal peace. You will forever be missed, adored, and fondly remembered.
